What Would A Modern 2025 Hummer H1 Look Like? Pro Car Designer Answers

Following our initial presentation of the 2025 Hummer H1 design study earlier this week, professional car designer Samir Sadikhov emailed us a wealth of new images showing the hardcore off-roader from a multitude of angles, in different environments and even for both personal and military use. He also tells that he “always loved the Hummer H1, despite it’s faults, limitations and technical difficulties, as it had a strong character and plenty of personality”. [Updated 5/14/2020]

The Hummer H1 went out of production in 2006, but it helped to establish GM’s off-road brand and was a hit with celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger.

While the model has been gone for more than a decade, it’s still celebrated and rare Alpha variants can easily cost more than $100,000.

With Hummer set to make a return, as an electric GMC pickup, automotive designer Samir Sadikhov who has worked for the likes of Lamborghini and Genesis, has envisioned what a modern H1 could look like in the near future.

Since the model is an icon, Sadikhov mostly updated the original design. Starting up front, there’s an evolutionary seven slot grille which is flanked by round headlights with circular LED daytime running lights. We can also see more modern turn signals and an evolutionary clamshell hood.

Bigger changes occur further back as the chunky side mirrors have been replaced by cameras. The sides of the vehicle have been modernized, while also incorporating some classic styling cues such as recessed windows. Furthermore, the smoother bodywork is broken up by recesses beneath the doors and ribbing on the side skirts.

The renderings also depict a quad sunroof and a removable rear hard top. The latter appears to feature angular side windows which can be covered by an assortment of specially designed accessories. In this case, we can see four jerry cans and what appears to be an exterior storage compartment.

Since the model only exists in the digital world, there’s no word on what would power it. However, given Hummer’s rebirth as an electric vehicle sub-brand, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine it using the same powertrain as the company’s upcoming pickup. This means it could have electric motors and a combined output of 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS).
