HSRP fitting services to resume from May 18

Panaji: Real Mazon India Ltd, the agency that fits high security registration plates (HSRP) on vehicles, will resume their services from May 18 as it looks at easing a nearly seven-week lockdown despite fresh cases of Coronavirus infections reported in the state.

The company will send text messages to all those vehicle owners who had booked for number plate fitment but could not get the service due to lockdown and hence will now be able to get the high security plates fitted from next week.

The company wants to clear the huge backlog on priority and not to take new  appointment or booking until the backlog gets cleared. As per the set procedure, the fitment of number plates will be followed with strict social distancing norms and all the ten fitment centres will function from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm with a break of one hour.

The fitting centre in Porvorim and Arlem that used to attend equally 125 vehicles per day and remaining centers 75 calls but now due to fear of Coronavirus infection every centre will attend to a maximum of one to four vehicles with a gap of 20 to 30 minutes after every call attended.

However the major fitment centres of Porvorim and Arlem will accommodate four vehicles for every 30 minutes which means 48 vehicles would be fitted with high security plates in a day while remaining centres will attend only one vehicle in every 20 minutes that translates into 21 vehicles in a day.

These norms will be followed till May end and if the situation improves the company would revert to its original schedule from first week of June.

According to transport department the company has fitted over 70,000 high security number plates since October 1 in all its ten centers located in Mapusa, Bicholim, Pernem, Porvorim, Ponda, Dharbandora, Vasco, Quepem, Arlem and Canacona.
