Cabinet nod for 12-hour shifts in pvt firms

The state cabinet has granted approval for several central government-initiated ordinances and amendments to the Factories and Boilers Act to ensure ease of doing business for private companies in the state.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told media persons after the cabinet meeting that these amendments to the Factories and Boilers Act have been introduced to ensure ease of doing business for companies planning to set up shops in India and Goa.

He also informed that the cabinet has given approval for extending working hours from eight hours shift to 12 hours shifts.

“Additional four hours will be strictly considered to be overtime for employees working in private sector,” he added.

The cabinet has also given approval for creation of 35 posts in the directorate of accounts. 

Sawant said that aviation skill development centre at the Mopa airport earmarked area has also received approval from the cabinet.

Meanwhile, Minister for Ports Michael Lobo informed that there was consensus in the cabinet meeting on allowing tea stalls, hotels, restaurants, bars, gyms in the fourth phase of lockdown in the state with social distancing.

Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho told the media persons that the Goa government will initiate talks with bus operators yet again to check the possibility of taking private buses on rent, to ensure that public transport is streamlined.

He added that it is also the responsibility of the people to maintain social distancing while travelling in the buses.
