The Contempo Slow Cooker has a 5.5 litre capacity and is ideal for creating tasty dinner meals and dessert treats.

In 2019 the product was given a five-star review and was named the best slow cooker in the Canstar Blue test for its elegant design, great value for money and easy to use function.

Slow cookers from Sunbeam, Kmart and Phillips also received a high rating in the comparative test.

Celebrity stylist Jules Sebastian also jumped onto the trend and shared an eight-minute video with her 157,000 Instagram followers demonstrating how to make slow cooked lamb shoulder.

How to make Beef Cheeks with Chinese Five Spice and Cinnamon in a slow cooker

'If I had to pick a dish that I had to eat for the rest of my life then this would be it, once you reduce the broth you'll understand why,' says Scott Gooding, author of 'The Keto Diet'

Ingredients - Serves 4 

4 beef cheeks

1 tbs ghee

750 mls bone broth

2 cinnamon sticks

2 star anise

3 tbs honey

2 tsp Chinese five spice

4 small brown onion – peeled and quartered

4 garlic cloves – peeled and quartered

Water if needed

Sea salt

black pepper

Method:

Heat the ghee in a large fry pan on a high heat and add the beef cheeks.

Brown the cheeks on both sides and side aside – deglaze the pan with some water and add to a slow cooker

Add the beef cheeks and all the remaining ingredients.

Turn the slow cooker to medium temp

Ensure liquid is covering at least ¾ of the beef cheeks

Pop the lid on

Cook for 4 to 5 hours or until falling apart 

Remove from cooker

Drain off broth and reduce over high heat until thickened – pour back over the cheeks

Serve
