New Delhi: Have you noticed that whenever there is an anniversary, everyone rushes forward with their greetings?
Tuesday is no different but in this case, it’s a very special day: International Nurses Day. Politicians, especially, have been quick to acknowledge their invaluable contribution to looking after coronavirus patients.
Led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, there are messages also from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan — all with fulsome praise for nurses’ dedication and bravery.
‘Thank You’ for your kindness, dedication & healing touch !
A big Thanks to our #FrontLineHeroes for always putting patients first,no matter how grueling the day…
Thanks for your love & compassion, for standing like a rock when we’re fighting for our lives.#NationalNursesDay pic.twitter.com/d7Yw6RgU2E— Dr Harsh Vardhan (@drharshvardhan) May 12, 2020

And when the UK Prime Minister pays his tribute to them, you sense he really means it. Boris Johnson was hospitalised and in ICU due to the coronavirus last month.
On #InternationalNursesDay, I pay tribute to Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing, who was born 200 years ago today.
Thank you to all of our amazing nurses in the UK who are taking care of us, especially in this very difficult time. You are the very best of us. pic.twitter.com/nCyCbeoWSQ

Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi also has a teary-eyed moment.
Yes , like the pictures during partition . Sad part is, except journalists, no institution has taken up their cause . No FICCI, no CII, no celebrities, not even the so called spiritual gurus…This exposes us all.. https://t.co/aAyL12tP4a

More tales of bravery, this time from Rajasthan where Praveen Kaswan, IFS, applauds a young man for his courage.
He is Mukesh Bishnoi from Jodhpur(15), Class 10 student. Yesterday night heard a gun shot, ran towards that direction with two of his other friends. Had a faceoff with two armed (.303) Chinkara poachers. Able to overpowered gunned poacher after a good tussle. Kudos. @and_ecology pic.twitter.com/apNQjQxFFo

Congress leader Srivatsa thinks Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami shouldn’t be allowed to appear on television. But his reasons are slightly different from what one might presume.
Today, Arnab’s lawyer Harish Salve told SC that the cop who interrogated Arnab is COVID +ve
Why is Arnab not quarantined as he is a primary contact?
Why is he still holding TV debates? This is violation of law!
Requesting @OfficeofUT to immediately quarantine him in a hospital

And Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh feels like PM Narendra Modi should’ve scored higher on his report card. Find out why…
Very poor score – when the paper setter, examiner, invigilator and student is one and same.
Should have scored at least 💯% https://t.co/rIHDV1ZEsR

While justice is blind, former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha urges the Supreme Court to open its eyes.
Will Supreme Court take notice of the fact that the govt lied to it when it claimed that no migrant is on the road. Is the SC sorry that it too failed these helpless people. Will it look into it even now and ensure justice to them?

French ethical hacker Elliot Alderson ‘thanks’ the government of India — that after finding fault with its Aarogya Setu app.
Thank you. Next time, do it before the launch of your app, don’t wait an asshole like me to remind you that privacy is vital for this kind of project https://t.co/TTLTgOWi92

Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo, who’s known to bluntly reprimand US President Donald Trump, is at it again.
Dear @realDonaldTrump,
A decent leader would put his attention on those many families and loved ones and mark the importance of their grief and loss. You dishonor these Americans by focusing on your past grievances. Be thoughtful. Just a suggestion. #BePresidential https://t.co/CJF2MB3oIs— Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) May 11, 2020
