May 12 is celebrated across the world as International Nurses Day and this year makes it even special as the world is fighting the challenge of the novel coronavirus since the end of last year. This day is celebrated in remembrance of the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. The WHO has also declared 2020 has The Year of the Nurse and Midwife as it marks the 200th birth anniversary of the Nightingale. The aim is to encourage nurses and the public to celebrate and provide information and resources that will help to raise the profile of the profession throughout the year.
