A foster parent has been arrested southwest of Sydney and charged with sexually assaulting two young girls who were in his care.

The 50-year-old was arrested at a Wollondilly Shire home on Saturday and charged with two counts of aggravated indecent assault, aggravated sexual intercourse and aggravated sexual assault.

Police will allege in court the man indecently and sexually assaulted the girls - then aged from 11 and 13 - multiple times between 2017 and 2018.

He is due to face the Central Local Court on Tuesday.
