As per the latest Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings, last week saw total television viewership of 1.14 trillion viewing minutes.
Apart from telecasting its past shows, channels have also been trying to innovate and provide newer means of entertainment. A few weeks ago, Colors launched a shot-at-home series – Hum Tum Aur Quarantine with comedian Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa. The show saw the couple indulging in some fun conversation with popular stars and talking about their lockdown experience.
Over the weekend, Colors also aired a special musical tribute – Dard-e-Dil for late Bollywood actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. A bevy of celebrities like Hina Khan, Bharti Singh, Harsh Limbachiyaa, Maniesh Paul, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Arjun Bijlani, singers Sukhwinder Singh, Aditya Narayan, Abu Malik, and Rising Star contestants were seen participating in the concert. They took a trip down memory lane and shared nostalgia-filled eulogies along with performing soulful renditions of the late actors’ songs.
On being associated with the show, comedy star Bharti Singh, in a statement, said, “This tribute is a great chance for us to pay respects to these two legends of Bollywood. Both Rishi Kapoor ji and Irrfan Khan have given so much joy to us fans through their work. The last week was indeed the worst week for Indian cinema as we lost two legends one after the other. They may have gone from the world but they will live in our hearts forever through the work they have done. I am honoured beyond words that I have been chosen to give a tribute to them through this concert. We will celebrate their unforgettable contribution to Bollywood.”
Actor Ansari Shafique passed away on Sunday after battling cancer for a few years. He was 52. Shafique was known for playing multiple roles in Crime Patrol. He has also been part of films like Dost, Izzatdaar, Pratiggya among more. Ansari Shafique was even one of the screenwriters for Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini's Baghban.
Bigg Boss 13 fame Shehnaaz Gill's latest music video with Jassie Gill is here. The singer-actor duo released the lyrical version, given they couldn't shoot owing to the lockdown. Prior to this video, Shehnaaz had starred with Sidharth Shukla in Bhula Dunga.

Supernatural drama Nazar 2 is set to go off air from Star Plus. Due to the lockdown, the channel has decided to pull the plug off the Monalisa, Shruti Sharma and Sheezan Mohammed starrer.
Producer Gul Khan posted an emotional message on her Instagram informing fans about the same. She wrote, "Sad but true ... Nazar to go off air now ... feels like it was just yesterday it had launched ! TEAM NAZAR what an amazing job you guys did ! The most loving team of actors and technicians and writers I ever worked with ! Thank you,all of you for this wonderful journey ! And thank you @starplus for this opportunity ! It’s was roller coaster !!!! 💖💖💖 to many more to come !"

Naagin 4 actor Vijayendra Kumeria had been flying as a cabin crew, before he decided to take up acting. The actor shared, "I worked as a cabin crew in both domestic and international sectors. I was in Qatar for two years, and was drawing a handsome salary. However, I wanted to take up acting but my mother was reluctant about it. I decided to try my luck for two years, and if nothing happened, I could go back to my old job.
However, life had different plans for him. Although he started with small roles, he soon bagged Shastri Sisters, which changed his life. "After that I bagged Udann, which changed my life. And now Naagin has contributed to my career graph. The feedback from the audience has been amazing." added Kumeria.
While most actors dream of seeing themselves on the big screen, Vivian Dsena's loyalty clearly lies towards television. In a press note, the actor spoke about his love for the medium. Sharing that while he loves films, if there's ever an offer from Bollywood and a TV soap, he would choose the latter. 'I love television and am very attached to it. I believe there is no difference between TV and Bollywood today.'
Speaking about his fan following, the Shakti actor added, 'I don’t want to sound pompous but it’s true. I never thought I would become such a big name, and it's all thanks to my audience. I moved to Mumbai as a model and never thought of acting as a career. But it was in my destiny.'
Bigg Boss 13's favourite couple Asim Riaz and Himanshi Khurana seem to be missing each other. Khurana, who is currently in her hometown Punjab, recently posted an adorable video of herself and Riaz on TikTok. The viral video features the love birds sharing a candid moment on a set.
Talking about their relationship, Riaz had earlier told indianexpress.com, ' Love just happens, we never plan it. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I did go down on my knees for her (on Bigg Boss 13), and it was because I was very excited to see her. I really missed her when she was not there. I was like a kid around her. Everything is quite positive between us and I am looking forward to spending time with her.'
One of the most popular television award shows, Gold Awards has decided to take the online route amid the lockdown. The winners of 'Gold Quarantine Award' will be announced on May 16.
Keeping in view the current situation, 15 new categories have been announced. Some of them include Most Stylish Star, Best Quarantine Chef, Super Cool Parents, Most Energetic Star, Most Entertaining Family, Fit and Healthy Star, My Dream Star, Go on a Date Star, Lockdown King and Queen. Fans can vote for their favourite through the Gold Awards' official social media pages.
To mark 25 years of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Zee has decided to air a grand musical concert Ek Desh Ek Raag in 10 national languages across 19 of its channels. The concert will feature Udit Narayan, Richa Sharma, Himesh Reshammiya, Javed Ali, Sourav Ganguly, Vijay Prakash, Kamal Khan and Debojit among others singing from the confines of their homes. The same will also stream live on Facebook.
The Ek Desh Ek Raag concert will start on May 23 and continue for 25 hours. The audience's donation would be contributed towards funds aimed at helping frontline warriors and the needy.
Udit Narayan, who will be a part of the live concert, in a statement, said, “The platform of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has always been very special to me as apart from giving our music fraternity some of its finest talents, the show has even launched my son Aditya as a host. I was already a part of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs 2020 this year, but now I am even more thrilled to be a part of the Ek Desh Ek Raag concert to celebrate 25 years of the popular music franchise.
