West Bengal: Former CPM MP Tarit Topdar attacked in Titagarh

KOLKATA: Former CPM MP Tarit Topdar was attacked while he had gone to Titagarh area of North 24 Parganas on Thursday morning. His car was ransacked.
The ex MP had gone to the area to distribute of relief material. CPM claimed that Topdar was allegedly attacked by Trinamool and BJP supporters and the attack took place in presence of police. Later, CPM demonstrated against the attack.
Car of the former MP was ransacked as stones and rods were hurled. Topdar claimed it was a planned attack.
He said that he went to distribute relief material among the local people. However, BJP leaders said that as he was roaming in the
containment zone and he was asked to leave.
Police also tried to stop him and there was tension in the area.
