2013 Dodge Challenger Recreated As Modern Day Charger Daytona

The original Dodge Charger Daytona was born back in 1969, with only 501 units ever being made. It then went on to set records on track thanks to its distinct aerodynamic styling and powerful 7.0-liter Hemi V8 engine – in particular, it became the first car in NASCAR history to break the 200 mph (322 km/h) mark, on March 24, 1970, at Talladega.

This particular one however isn’t even an official tribute. Dodge actually took care of that back in 2016 when they released the Challenger T/A and Charger Daytona special edition models.

So then what’s the deal with this car? Well, it’s a 2013 Challenger, modded to look a lot like a modern interpretation of the Charger Daytona thanks to a so-called one-off Daytona Package. It is currently getting auctioned off online through Barrett Jackson.

The car rides on 20-inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear rubber, and is powered by a 372 HP 5.7-liter HEMI V8, mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. According to the ad, it has done 1,867 miles (3,000 km), which isn’t a lot. Also, this is a pre-facelift model at 7 years old, which is why the interior looks as outdated as it does.

Speaking of its white leather interior (with red piping and Daytona embroidery), it comes with a multi-function steering wheel, a pistol-grip style shifter, sunroof, power seats, 7-speaker Boston Acoustics stereo system and a 6.5-inch touchscreen display.

Other than a few paint imperfections or scratches here and there, the car seems to be in good condition. Is it as cool as the original Charger Daytona? We’d argue not even close, even though the custom package is pretty detailed, even adding the pop-up headlights.
