MLA D Vedavyas Kamath convincing residents.MANGALURU: Large number of residents in Kodialguthu here came out of their homes opposing district administration's plans of quarantining expatriates arriving in flights from UAE in an apartment in the locality.
The first Vande Bharat evacuation flight from Dubai is scheduled to be arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport at 10.10pm on Tuesday with 176 passengers. They will have to be either quarantined or sent to designated Covid19 hospital based on the medical check-up reports.
By evening residents received message that an apartment in the area has been identified as quarantine centre for evacuees from foreign countries. When they came out opposing the move, MLA of Mangaluru City South D Vedavyas Kamath was quick to rush to the spot and convince them.
Kamath visited each apartment in the area and convinced residents. He said quarantine facility will not pose threat since all precautions are in place. The MLA also requested people not to gather outside violating social distancing and managed to disperse them.
