CHANDIGARH: Haryana won a small battle in its war on Covid-19 on Monday as even though it got 27 more cases, it discharged 37 patients — a rare occasion where the number of people who have been cured is more than the number of people found infected.
All new cases are from NCR districts and the state’s overall tally for the virus hit 730. A death was also reported from Faridabad, taking the state’s fatality figure to 11. Also, after Gurgaon and Sonipat, Faridabad became the third district in the state to get 100 or more cases.
Of the 37 patients who hace been discharged, 27 are from Ambala and 10 from Sonipat. The number of active patients has fallen to 382 and the states recovery rate has improved to 46.16% because of the discharged patients. Of the 27 new cases, nine are from Jhajjar. All are related to vegetable vendors and wholesalersa, and the district’s overall count is now 63. Seven new cases are from Faridabad, where the total count has gone to 102.
Five cases are from Sonipat, which has so far reported 105 cases, and three from Gurugram, whose count is now 145.
Mahendergarh got one case and Charkhi Dadri reported two. Haryana’s testing rate had further gone up to 2,356 tests per million. A 28th case was also reported from Dhanani village in Kurukshetra, but it was not added to the state bulletin. Kurukshetra civil surgeon Dr Sukhbir Singh said the patient is the niece of a policewoman who had been in contact with a cook at a Panchkula police station who tested positive for the virus. “ The constable visited family in Dhanani two days ago from Panchkula.
