All along the Mumbai-Agra NH, thousands upon thousands of migrant workers can be seen walking, children in arms, while many are lucky enough to hitch a ride on the back of empty trucks. Almost every truck that passes by is a refuge on wheels. Exhausted people sleep on the roadside. Along the highway, in places like Malegaon, Dhule and Sendhwa, people can be seen offering food to hungry and exhausted migrants are either on foot or hitching rides on trucks.
