Ghaziabad: Around 30 private hospitals in the district have resumed emergency services after the health department trained 80 doctors on infection prevention and control protocol and appointed them as nodal officers at the facilities.
The doctors will be in touch with the chief medical officer (CMO) and will send him daily reports of patients being attended to at the emergency units. They will also impart training to other doctors at their respective hospitals.
The district administration has also instructed all hospitals to take necessary precautions while treating each patient and depute minimum staff members at the facilities. Junior doctors and nursing staff have been asked to report for quarantine unit duties.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) was asked to ensure that hospitals follow Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) protocols while treating patients. The association was also asked to form a five-member team for this purpose.
IMA president Dr V B Jindal said that the 30 hospitals include Yashoda Hospital, Narinder Mohan Hospital and Sarvodaya Hospital and Research Center.
CMO Dr NK Gupta said: “All these doctors have been given training on coronavirus infection. They have been told about the symptoms and treatment in detail. They have also been told what precautions doctors and nursing staff members should take while attending to patients at the emergency units. Doctors who have been appointed as nodal officers will now train other doctors at their respective hospitals.”
The district administration, in collaboration with the IMA, had recently planned a two-tier system to ensure that patients do not face problems while seeking treatment.
The CMO has been made the overall head of the system. The nodal officer of each hospital will submit a report to the CMO on the numbers of patients who have availed of the services and also record their feedback about the facilities.
