Representative imageLUCKNOW: A 19-year-old man was arrested for impersonating as chief justice at Allahabad high court in a phone call he made to the director-general of police.
According to the police, Suraj Patel, a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri, on the night of May 7 made a call on the official phone number of the DGP. The call was attended by DGP’s security officer. The man identified himself as chief justice and asked the security officer to hand over the phone to the DGP. However, the officer got suspicious. He snapped the phone and traced the call which was made from a localtion in Lakhmipur. He lodged an FIR with the Hazratganj police station the next day.
Station house officer, Hazratganj, Santosh Singh said a police team was sent to Lakhimpur and Patel was arrested from Mohammadpur village on Sunday. “During interrogation, he said that he had dialled number just for fun,” Singh added.
