Witness at the scene
A witness at the scene said about six or seven homes were evacuated as a result of the incident.
They said that the leak was audible, but emergency services acted incredibly quickly to get it all sorted out.

Fire service statement
Cheshire Fire Service has released a statement about the incident.
A spokesman said:
At 1.30pm Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service was informed of a gas leak on Kinnerton Road, Lower Kinnerton, near Chester.
The road was closed by the police and nearby properties were evacuated.
The Cadent Gas company attended, as did several cable engineers and a fire crew from Chester.
Working with the gas company, a fire officer used a gas monitor from a safe distance and firefighters set up a covering jet as a precaution.
They left the scene once the gas company’s engineers had isolated the leak.
Fire personnel were in attendance for almost two hours.”

There are about four vehicles from the company dealing with the leak.

The incident was just over the border in England.
It took place in Lower Kinnerton on Main Road, and firefighters were called in to assist.
Road closure
A road closure was initially put into place by the police as a result of the incident.
Locals are saying that closure has now been partially lifted.
