General promotion for students from class 1 to 8, with message 'Promotion due to corona lockdown for infection prevention' on the marksheet

BHOPAL: The Rajya Shiksha Kendra of MP education department has issued instructions for general promotion of students from class one to class eight in the wake of cancellation of exams due to the Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown. Commissioner RSK, Lokesh Jatav gave instructions to all the collectors for necessary action in this regard on Monday night.
Jatav has said that all non-government and aided schools in the state, in which annual examinations from classes one to eight were completed on or before March 19, 2020, will declare their institution's annual examination results as per rules but no student will be detained in the same class. Schools that had to cancle their annual examinations because of the lockdown should promote students to the next class on the basis of monthly, half-yearly, and internal assessment as per the provisions of the Right to Education Act.
Students of classes one to eight studying in all government schools will be promoted to the next class on the basis of monthly half-yearly and internal assessment as per the provision of the Right to Education Act, he added.
Complete certificates of elementary education should also be issued to the students of class eight. During the entire session, teachers were instructed to mark a 'dash' in the annual exam column of the report card or progress sheets and students of class 5 and 8 will be promoted on the basis of their performance in monthly, quarterly (class 5 and 8 only) half-yearly and internal assessment. The report cards and TC will also have the principal's seal and signature with the message "Promotion due to corona lockdown for infection prevention" affixed to the document.
