Renault Resumes Operations In India, Opens Factories And Dealerships Under Local Regulations

The coronavirus pandemic led to a nationwide lockdown in India on 25th March. Renault has now reopened its office and some dealerships and service centers while adhering to the advisories of the Central and State Governments. More than 194 dealerships have been given the green light to resume functionality under strict hygiene protocols. The remaining dealerships will soon open in a phased-wise with permission from local authorities. All Renault entities, part of the India Alliance, have commenced operations in a phased manner. 

Renault has ensured strict protocols regarding hygiene and safety in its facilities and test drive cars. The staff has undergone extensive training protocols as part of the "Welcome Back" initiative. The employees will undergo regular temperature screening and all facilities will undergo heavy fumigation before reopening. After every customer interaction, all the contact points and test drive vehicles will be sanitized. Employees can only start working after going through a stringent set of health screening protocols.

To reduce direct contact, the French carmaker has shifted its sales to an online platform. Cars can now be bought or booked for a test drive on the Renault website or app. A "Buy Now, Pay Later" scheme is also offered, wherein customers can buy any Renault car in May and start paying their EMI after three months of purchase. Newly purchased cars and test drive vehicles will be brought to the customer's doorstep.
