KALYAN: Former CM Devendra Fadnavis on Monday visited Harishchandra Shrivardhankar, an eyewitness in 26/11 terror case who had identified Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab, at a Kalyan hospital and announced Rs 10 lakh aid on behalf of the BJP party.
Earlier this month, a starving Shrivardhankar was found lying on the road in Saat Rasta by activist Dean D'Souza who handed him over to the Agripada police. The police traced his son to Kalyan and sent him home.
Local BJP corporator Daya Gaikwad said, "As his family's financial condition is poor, we got admitted him to Aayush Hospital for his leg injuries. BJP MLA Ravindra Chavan informed Fadnavis about his condition."
Shrivardhankar was among those who had testified in court and had identified Kasab as one of the 26/11 attackers. According to news reports, he had braved a bullet and had even fought back Kasab's aide Abu Ismail outside Cama hospital in 2008.
