India: Covid-19 cases in India have seen a dramatic surge in the past two weeks. In the last 24 hours, 3,604 cases and 87 deaths were recorded. The total number of corona cases rose to 71,348 as of Tuesday and death toll hit 2,310, according to Worldometer

India at present is the 11th most affected among 187 countries with cases. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8pm today.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today asked Delhi public to call 1031 with suggestions on easing curbs after May 17. Modi on Monday indicated the nationwide could be extended beyond May 17, albeit with eased restrictions for businesses. The Centre also indicated that an economic package for states was on the anvil. Maharashtra has 23,401 corona cases, Gujarat 8,541, Tamil Nadu 8,002.

world update: Globally, 4,271,700 people have been infected so far, and the total number of deaths from the disease now stands at 287,613.
