NEW DELHI: Junior minister in PMO Jitendra Singh on Monday denied media reports that there was any government proposal to cut salaries of central staff. “There is no proposal by the government to carry out deduction in the salary of its employees,” Singh clarified in response to media reports that the government was mulling up to 30% salary cuts of central government employees.
The finance ministry also came out with a statement on Twitter: “There is no proposal under consideration of government for any cut whatsoever in the existing salary of any category of central government employees. The reports in some section of media are false and have no basis whatsoever.”
The clarification is significant amid recessionary trends following the lockdown and freezing of dearness allowances till June 2021.
