Greater Noida: 15 booked for spitting in public places

GREATER NOIDA: Fifteen people have been booked in two separate cases for allegedly spitting publicly in Surajpur. Police teams in both the cases took suo moto cognizance to file the FIRs.
According to the complaint, these men had illegally gathered outside a busy intersection and a flour mill on Sunday evening where they spat on the road and later fled after cops patrolling. They were identified as residents of the nearby area. Efforts are being made to arrest them.
Following the two complaints, FIRs were registered against the two groups under IPC Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant). “I have asked the patrolling teams to make announcements from police vans requesting people to follow social distancing guidelines. Strict action is being taken against the offenders,” said Rajesh Kumar Singh, the DCP of zone 3.
Meanwhile, the vigilance team constituted by Noida has issued challans to eight persons during the first week of lockdown for spitting in public. On May 4, the CEO of Noida Authority had issued an order and announced a fine of Rs 500 against individuals who are found spitting in public.
