Eerie images show some of Australia's most popular pubs and clubs deserted 51 days into lockdown.

Pictures taken through the windows of some of Sydney's most iconic bars, including the Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel at The Rocks in the city's CBD and the Lansdowne Hotel in Chippendale, showed deserted bars at a time they would have normally been packed with customers.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison warned Australians on Friday as he unveiled his three-step plan that pubs and clubs would be some of the last businesses to open when gatherings of up to 100 people were allowed.

'Pubs and clubs with some restrictions will be open. And also possibly gaming venues,' Mr Morrison said.

The exact date of the roll out will be left up to the states and territories with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian choosing to not relax any restrictions until Friday out of fear that a possible second wave could sweep through the state.

Despite the decreasing rate of coronavirus  cases across the country Mr Morrison warned that outbreaks of coronavirus were likely to continue but added 'outbreaks are not a reason to slow things down,' in the roll out of the restrictions.

While many pubs and clubs have continued with limited business through bottle-o's and take away services they are a far cry from the lively social hubs that made them famous and beloved part of Australian culture.
