DC forms committee to check shops

Ludhiana: A three-member committee has been formed to keep an eye on the shops, said deputy commissioner (DC) Pradeep Kumar Agrawal. “They will hold regular checks of shops that have been allowed to open during the ongoing lockdown. The committee comprises additional deputy commissioner (Khanna), deputy commissioner of police (law and order) and sub-divisional magistrate (west). This committee will further constitute police station and zone-wise sub-committees, who will conduct regular checks of shops,” said Agrawal.
A two-day deadline (till May 12) is given to the shopkeepers to make necessary arrangements according the Covid-19 protocol, Agrawal said. “If any shopkeeper is found not following the protocol, their shops will be closed on the spot and an FIR under Section 188 of IPC will be registered against them. In other parts of the district, sub-division wise committees will be formed by respective SDMs in consultation with the DSPs,” added the DC.s
