Karnataka to pay for returnees' train tickets

BENGALURU: The state government on Sunday said it would foot the train tickets of all those from Karnataka, stuck across the country, planning to return home.

In the evening, the Centre decided to gradually restore passenger train services from May 12. Of more than 1 lakh Karnataka people stranded outside the state, a good number of them are said to be in high-risk state of Maharashtra. The government was also looking at ferrying them home in chartered private or KSRTC buses.
About 800 students from the state who are in Delhi preparing for UPSC exams will be brought back soon, said revenue minister R Ashoka.
