Britain's biggest petrol retailer Tesco has cut the cost of petrol and diesel.

The supermarket giant has announced that from tomorrow petrol will be no more than 99.9p per litre while diesel will not be above 105.9p per litre.

It follows a move by Morrisons to reduce petrol and diesel prices.

Tesco has a network of 500 filling stations - the largest of all UK supermarkets.

Tesco’s buying manager for fuel, Rodger Beer, said: “We’re cutting the price of fuel in our petrol stations to help our customers save money by shopping at Tesco during this challenging time.”

A Morrisons spokesman said: "To say thank you to all key workers and other motorists making essential journeys, we're cutting the price of unleaded to 99.7p per litre and diesel to 104.7p per litre from this morning."
