Hero MotoCorp jumps on resuming retail operations

Hero MotoCorp surged 6.73% to Rs 2094.35 after the two-wheeler major announced re-opening more than 1500 customer touchpoints including authorized dealerships and service centers.

These outlets contribute to around 30% of the company's total domestic retail sales. Around 10,000 units of motorcycles and scooters have already been sold since the re-opening of these customer touch points, the company said in a release.

All of Hero MotoCorp's manufacturing facilities across the globe had halted operations since 22 March 2020 as a precautionary preventive measure against COVID-19. Accordingly, there were no vehicles manufactured and dispatched to dealers in the month of April 2020, the company had informed on 4 May 2020.

The company reported a consolidated net profit to Rs 901.81 crore for Q3 December 2019, up by 16.3% from net profit of Rs 775.26 crore in the same period last year. Net sales declined year-on-year 10.9% to Rs 7074.53 crore in Q3 December 2019.

Hero MotoCorp is a motorcycle and scooter manufacturer. The company is the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world.

The stock has added 9.1% in the past one month while the S&P BSE Auto index has gained 5.4% during the same period.
