2.12 LMT wheat for Punjab for April-June distribution

JALANDHAR: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has allocated 2.12 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat to Punjab in advance for April to June under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).
FCI divisional manager T R Sethi said in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has decided to give 5kg wheat per beneficiary per month for three months and 1kg pulses per family per month for three months. He said free distribution of 15kg wheat per member of a family and 3kg dal for a full family (irrespective of number of family members) to eligible beneficiaries was being ensured by the respective state governments. He said the FCI allocated 2.12 LMT of wheat to Punjab in advance for the months of April to June.

According to Sethi, the FCI regional office had already issued release orders for 2.12 LMT, which was the entire allocated share for the state, worth Rs 594.09 crore. Similarly, he said that total allocation of 4,127.085 metric tonnes of wheat worth Rs 11.56 crore has also been made to the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
