Representative imageGURUGRAM: A 72-year-old woman, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 on May 6, has died in Faridabad, taking the death toll in Haryana to 10. According to health officials, she suffered a cardiac arrest late on Saturday night. The district has recorded 96 cases of the novel coronavirus so far, including two new ones on Sunday.
The woman who died was a resident of Sector 28. Her entire family, including her husband (73), son (45), daughter-in-law (42) and granddaughter (5), also tested positive. The granddaughter is the youngest Covid-positive patient in the district. The health department is tracing people who have come in contact with the family.
“The condition of the 72-year-old was critical as she was suffering from diabetes and urinary tract infection as well. She was admitted to ESIC Medical College and Hospital and was put on ventilator. She passed away on Saturday night,” said Dr Ram Bhagat, deputy civil surgeon, Faridabad.
He added, “Two other persons tested positive on Sunday. We are carrying out surveillance in slum clusters and vegetable markets.”
The new cases include a 42-years-old resident of Sector 62 and a 41-year-old SBI employee in Sector 16. Both are admitted to the ESIC hospital in Faridabad.
“We are tracing their primary and secondary contacts. We are also scrutinising everyone who had any contact with people at Azadpur mandi in Delhi. Those who work in Delhi are also under the scanner,” Bhagat said.
A total of 55 people have recovered and discharged in the district so far. Faridabad had earlier reported two Covid-19 deaths — a 55-year-old security guard from Old Faridabad who died on May 4 and a 68-year-old of Sector 88, who died on April 29.
