THE sport world is slowly getting the ball rolling again as lockdown restrictions are being slowly lifted globally. The UK government on Monday announced the Premier League can resume behind closed doors on June 1.

The news comes as a breath of fresh air to Liverpool fans who are anticipating the club's first league title in 20 years. Liverpool are runaway leaders in the Premier League, 25 points clear of second-placed Manchester City, with nine matches remaining. The league has been suspended since March 13.

Other football leagues have taken various approaches to the covid19 interruption. In Netherlands, the Eredivisie's standings was deemed final but no winner was announced. In France, the Ligue 1 has ended prematurely and PSG declared champions. In Germany, the Bundesliga will resume on Saturday.
