Another video shows bodies wrapped in plastic lying next to patients at Mumbai’s KEM Hospital

Another video of patients lying next to bodies wrapped in polythene has surfaced from the KEM Hospital in Mumbai. BJP MLA Nitesh Rane has shared the video and slammed the Maharashtra govt.

Video grabs show bodies wrapped in polythene kept inside the coronavirus wards of KEM Hospital.

Days after a video of the Sion hospital in Mumbai showing bodies of coronavirus patients lying in a ward along with those undergoing treatment, a similar video has surfaced from the KEM Hospital, also in Mumbai.

The new video has also been shared by BJP MLA Nitesh Rane. The previous video from Sion hospital was also shared by the BJP leader, triggering outrage against the Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray.

The latest video shows at least three bodies wrapped in blue polythene lying next to patients undergoing treatment.

In his tweet, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane has said, “KEM hospital today at 7 am! I think the BMC wants us to get used to seeing dead bodies around us while taking treatment because they just don’t want to improve! Feel bad for the health workers too who have to work in such conditions!! Is there any hope?”

The state-run KEM hospital is a dedicated coronavirus facility in Mumbai.

A few days ago, a similar video from Sion Hospital had gone viral on social media after which several BJP leaders, including former CM Devendra Fadnavis, launched an attack on the Maharashtra government.

Dr Pramod Ingle, dean of the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital in Sion area, said the reluctance of relatives to collect bodies led to this situation.

A statement issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) quoted him as saying that a probe will be conducted into the genuineness of the video.

The Dean said relatives of coronavirus victims are often reluctant to take possession of bodies, and "that is the reason why the bodies were kept there unattended.
