From throwbacks to heartfelt messages, here's a look at how your favourite Bollywood stars celebrated their mothers on Mother's Day 2020

On May 10, 2020, the people around the world came together (digitally) to celebrate Mother's Day. Being quarantined didn't stop thankful children from making their moms feel special, and social media feeds everywhere filled up with adorable photographs and heartfelt messages. Since India has been in a state of lockdown for two months now, Instagram became the medium for many, including Bollywood stars, through which to share special Mother's Day posts. From Priyanka Chopra, Karisma Kapoor and Deepika Padukone to Katrina Kaif and Janhvi Kapoor,  here's a look at how your favourite celebrities marked the occasion on their official accounts.

Priyanka Chopra shared an emotional message for all mothers

Currently self-isolating with husband Nick Jonas in their Los Angeles home, Priyanka Chopra kicked off Mother's Day with a special video montage that honoured not just mom Madhu Chopra, but also mother-in-law Denise Jonas, along with other women who she thinks of as mother figures in her life. In the background of the sweet video is Chopra's voice, saying, “To whoever raised you, loved you, taught you right and wrong, kissed your wounds, hugged you after a heartbreak, sat in the front row of your school play, today is for them. Mother’s Day is a lot more touching this year than before. With a lot of us far away from our loved ones, shared memories keep us close.”

Along with Chopra, Nick Jonas also shared a sweet throwback picture of the two mothers together on his wedding day. “So grateful to have such an incredible mother and now mother in law,” the musician said.

Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Janhvi Kapoor shared throwback photos with their mothers

Throwback pictures have been a favourite ever since the lockdown began, and Mother's Day gave several stars a chance to dig into their archives to find old photos to celebrate their moms. For starters, Abhishek Bachchan gave mother Jaya Bachchan a shoutout with a rarely seen, picture-perfect snapshot of the duo dressed in their festive best, and Katrina Kaif posted an adorable image of herself as a child, smiling for the camera with her mom Suzanne Turquotte. Her caption: “My mama.... all I loved to do was hug and dance with my mom ... my strongest memory from Childhood is always hanging on to my moms waist.”

Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor also took to social media  to share a throwback picture of herself as a baby with her mother, late Bollywood icon Sridevi. Brother Arjun Kapoor, who also lost his mother, Mona Kapoor, in 2012, used the occasion to talk to his fans about appreciating their moms, and to cherish them on this special day.

Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Deepika Padukone posted must-see pictures from their wedding albums

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli tied the knot in a private ceremony in Tuscany in December 2017. Since the, the duo have often shared unseen images from the celebrations on their Instagram pages, and Mother's Day 2020 was no different. To mark the day, Sharma shared a snapshot of herself at her engagement party, giving her mother a big hug.

Following suit, Deepika Padukone shared a sweet picture of herself with sister Anisha Padukone and mother Ujjala Padukone from her own wedding festivities back in 2018, and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja took us back to her mehandi bash with her Mother's Day album.

Kareena Kapoor Khan shares a goofy picture with her son, Taimur Ali Khan

Ever since Kareena Kapoor Khan joined Instagram, the star's official account has become a favourite with Bollywood fans. Over the past weeks, Kapoor Khan has shared several glimpses of her quarantine activities on this page, and on Mother's Day, she went with a goofy selfie with her adorable toddler, Taimur Ali Khan.
