A hotel is trying to recoup losses from the coronavirus crisis by offering temporary, remote offices for anybody who is bored of working from home.  

Spicers Hotel in Potts Point, near Sydney CBD, created a Remote Office Day Package for $99 per day. 

The offer allows staff from any industry to utilize the hotel as a self-isolated office space if they want a change from the monotony of working from home.

White collar workers have been encouraged to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, while a further one million Australians have been put out of work entirely.

Health authorities discouraged non-essential travel and closed state and national borders, crippling hotels and the short stay accommodation industry.

The new initiative will provide customers coffee on arrival and a private suite to work from 8am to 6pm.   

'Working from home but need a change of scenery bigger than going from the couch to the fridge? Forget the dining room table – let Spicers Potts Point be your ‘work from home away from home’ sanctuary,' the advertisement reads.

The package also includes free WiFi, onsite parking and a light lunch with the option of still or sparkling water.

With overseas travel bans predicted to stay in place until 2021, Australian hotel consultancy firm Dransfield warned owners and operators could face losses of up to 30 per cent until travel peaks again in 2022.

But in an effort to entice local customers once domestic bans are lifted, hoteliers could slash the cost of rooms by up to 50 per cent.

Rooms in Sydney could drop to $80 per night and rooms in Melbourne could fall as low as $50.

The number of rooms available in Sydney and Melbourne will also nosedive as about 5,500 hotel developments came to a grinding halt when the nations borders closed.
