AMBALA: An on-duty medical officer Dr Kamal Kant Gupta (43) who was posted for night duty at the community health centre (CHC) in Chaurmastpur village of Ambala district died due to sudden heart attack in the late hours on Sunday, said Ambala civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.
On receiving the information about the sudden demise of a medical officer during his duty hours, Dr Kuldeep and other senior officials reached the spot for inspection, where Dr Kamal was found dead.
The health department in Ambala collected his sample for Covid-19 testing on Monday at around 12.30am and the deceased doctor’s post-mortem was conducted on Monday afternoon.
Dr Kuldeep said, “Dr Kamal Kant was posted with the health department at CHC Naggal and on Sunday he was called for a night-duty at CHC Chaurmastpur. Dr Kamal also remained on-duty for Covid-19. He suffered diabetes, hypertension, and on Sunday at around 10.30 pm he had a heart attack and died at his room in CHC Chaurmastpur. When the on-duty staff witnessed him in his room, he was lying in an unconscious condition. The teams attempted to stabilize him and he was rushed to the civil hospital, Ambala City, where he was declared brought dead.”
“We have received Dr Kamal’s Covid-19 sample report and he has tested negative. His post-mortem has been conducted on Monday and he died due to heart attack”, told Dr Kuldeep.
“Dr Kamal served for more than 10 years with the health department and we are deeply saddened due to his sudden demise as he was a brilliant medical officer. His service in Ambala is remarkable and we pray for his soul’s peace”, further added Dr Kuldeep.”
Ambala district epidemiologist Dr Sunil Hari said, “For us Dr Kamal Kant is a Covid-19 hero as he served remarkably in CHC Naggal area. In the Naggal area, the number of foreigner return citizens is the most in the Ambala district and it is due to Dr Kamal’s service and vigilance that no Covid-19 positive case was recorded in his area. We are deeply saddened for losing a brilliant officer.”
