A "vile" woman who spat in the faces of two police officers after they were called to a disturbance at a Holywell takeaway has been handed a "pathetic" sentence by the courts.
North Wales Police Federation said the officers were "completely let down by the judiciary" after the incident at the Cheeky Chicken and Pizza House last Thursday.
It comes after they responded to reports of a disturbance between a man and a woman.
They detained the man while speaking to nearby witnesses but the woman - Carol Bryan -became aggressive with both police officers and spat in their faces.
The 41-year-old of Allt y Plas in Pentre Halkyn was charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and section 5 of the public order act.
She appeared before Mold Magistrates Court on Saturday where she was given a 26 week prison sentence suspended to 12 months.
She also had to pay £150 compensation, a victim surcharge of £128 and she has to be on curfew for 26 weeks with electronic monitoring.
But the sentence was blasted by North Wales Police Federation who said the officers received "no justice whatsoever."
Mark Jones, general secretary said: "I am absolutely appalled at this pathetic sentence.
"Two police officers, carrying out their public duty have been disgustingly spat on, in their faces, by this vile person.
"My two colleagues have received no justice whatsoever and have been completely let down by the judiciary."
He added: "Given the national crisis we are in with COVID-19; the dangerous and killer virus that it is, for the courts to give a light slap on the wrist for this disgusting act is shameful.
"We seemed to be making some progress recently with tougher sentences being issued to those who weaponised Covid-19 but with taking one step forward we have now taken two steps back."
* A 38-year-old male who was also arrested has abeen charged with a public order offence and criminal damage and has been bailed to appear before Mold Magistrates Court on August 18.
