Ludhiana: A Ludhiana-based activist has registered a complaint at the chief minister’s office on Sunday, stating that the civic body has left patching up work of the road at Model Town incompelete.
Simratpal Singh Kalsi, in his complaint, mentioned that instead of doing patching up the entire road in Model Town, the civic officials are picking and choosing portions for the patch work, leaving a vast stretch uncovered. He also said they left the work in between and it has been nearly a week, but nobody came to complete the pending work. People are still finding themselves navigating their way around potholes in the road, he held.
Kalsi said a week ago, the civic officials started work at road portion from PNB bank to Bikaner in Model Town, as the condition of the road was very bad. But on seeing that they were covering only random stretches, he said he contacted the senior officials of bridges and road department for highlighting the issue. He said he was informed by the officials that they ran out of bitumen and they will continue the work soon. He said till date nobody came again for completing the work.
Kalsi condemned the attitude of the civic officials for which the commuters are paying the price. He said earlier there was lockdown but now many people have started moving out and due to potholes people face problems. He demanded that the CM should take action in this issue and officials should be told to perform their duties properly.
Meanwhile, when contacted, mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu said he is not aware of the incident and will look into the matter.
