Boris Johnson has published a list of rules ahead of today's UK Government announcement.

The Prime Minister tweeted six rules earlier this afternoon, just hours before he's expected to reveal the roadmap of how and when lockdown in the UK will end, as reported by WalesOnline.

In a tweet, the 55-year-old said: "Everyone has a role to play in helping to control the virus by staying alert and following the rules. This is how we can continue to save lives as we start to recover from coronavirus."

He then included a series of rules, which he urged people to follow.

They were as follows:

  • Stay at home as much as possible
  • Work from home if you can
  • Limit contact with other people
  • Keep your distance if you go out (2 metres apart where possible)
  • Wash your hands regularly

The political leader also reminded his followers to self-isolate if they - or anyone in their household - develop coronavirus symptoms.

The Twitter post also debuted the UK Government's new coronavirus motto: "Stay alert, control the virus, save lives."

The slogan used by officials had previously been "stay home, save lives, protect the NHS," though there was speculation earlier this week that it would be changed.

Vaughan Gething, the Health Minister for Wales, however said there has been no "agreement or discussion" about this change between the four nations of the UK.

In a tweet on his account, he wrote: "The Welsh Government message has not changed. Stay at home and if you do go out observe the social distancing rules".

The new motto comes just days after Mark Drakeford announced a three week extension of lockdown in Wales on Friday (May 8).

Support the NHS Heroes Help From Home campaign

What is the NHS Heroes campaign?

The NHS is the very best of us. We watch in awe as they work tirelessly to care for us during these unprecedented times. We’ve never relied on them more. We’ve never needed to thank them more and that's what our Help For Heroes initiative is about.

You can show how much you appreciate their efforts by sending them some love, on our Thanks A Million Map https://www.thanksamillionnhs.co.uk/ Simply add your message of support and send a heart to your postcode area. You can zoom around the map to see how many people from communities around Britain are supporting it, and read other messages. If you're a member of NHS staff you'll find a dedicated section of discounts and money-off deals, just for you, too.

But alongside appreciation, the NHS also needs our help - from PPE, to food to keep them going during shifts, medical supplies and more - money can make a big difference. So we have launched NHS Heroes Help From Home - a nationwide drive to raise funds for our NHS frontline, that everyone can get involved in.

How it works

  • Donate to NHS Heroes Help From Home from just £2
  • As a thank you, everyone who donates will be entered into the weekly NHS Heroes Raffle

  • Find out more at: https://donate.thanksamillionnhs.co.uk/ or click the link on the Thanks a Million map to go direct to the donation site

Where do the funds go:

Funds raised are in aid of the NHS Charities COVID-19 Appeal, set up by NHS Charities Together. Donations will help take care of the immediate well-being of our NHS frontline heroes as well as provide essential longer-term mental health support .

94% of all donations will go to NHS Charities Together’s COVID-19 Appeal. The remaining 6% will cover the cost of payment processing fees.

During a press conference, the First Minister also revealed that "modest" changes would be made to restrictions from tomorrow (May 11).

This includes the reopening of garden centres across Wales as well as the public now being permitted to exercise outside more than once a day.

Regulations will also be changed to allow local authorities the power to begin planning the safe reopening of libraries and recycling centres in the near future.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to make a similar set of announcements later today at a press conference set to take place at 7pm (May 10) - though any such changes will apply only to England.
