Kurukshetra health department teams conducting survey in Harigarh Bhorakh village in Pehowa.KURUKSHETRA: The Kurukshetra district administration on Saturday late night sealed Harigarh Bhorakh village in Pehowa area and declared it as containment zone after a woman cook of this village working at Sector 5, police station, Panchkula tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday in Panchkula district.
As per the Kurukshetra deputy commissioner (DC) orders of declaring Harigarh Bhorakh village as containment zone on Saturday, the woman was residing at her home in the village.
Kurukshetra civil surgeon Dr Sukhbir Singh told, “A woman of Harigarh Bhorakh village works as a cook at police station, Sector 5, Panchkula district and she was tested randomly among some police officials by the health teams on Thursday. She had come to Harigarh Bhorakh village on May 7; therefore, on receiving the information about her Covid-19 positive result from Panchkula officials, we declared the village as containment zone on Saturday.”
“On Saturday, our health teams visited the village and isolated the woman. Presently, she is undergoing treatment at Adesh Medical College and Hospital, Shahabad, which is designated Covid-19 hospital. The woman’s sampling has been conducted in Panchkula district and her case will be counted over there," further added Dr Sukhbir.
As for contact tracing, Dr Sukhbir told, “On Saturday, we had traced her 6 close-contacts of family members and their samples were collected for Covid-19 testing. More contact tracing is being done on Sunday and they would also be tested for the coronavirus.”
Kurukshetra deputy commissioner (DC) Dhirendra Khadgata told, “Health teams have been deputed to conduct a door-to-door survey in Harigarh Bhorakh village, which is declared as containment zone and buffer zone is also demarcated. All the precautionary measures and due SOPs are being followed. Sanitization of all areas in containment and buffer zone has been ensured. The movement of villagers has been restricted after sealing the village. Officials of food supply department and market committee under Pehowa SDM have been instructed to ensure delivery of essential goods and commodities to the villagers.”
In Kurukshetra district, so far, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases recorded by health department is 2, and both the patients have recovered and got discharged from hospital isolation on April 23 and 24.
However, two Covid-19 patients of Kurukshetra have not been counted in district tally, as one 52-year-old resident of Shahabad Sugar Mills Colony had tested positive at PGIMER, Chandigarh on May 1, and woman of Harigarh Bhorakh at Panchkula district on May 9.
