CHENNAI: A bakery owner was arrested at T Nagar for an advertisement of his store which said that the products at the eatery were only made by Jains and not by "Muslim staff".
Prashanth, 32, owner of Jain Bakeries and Confectionaries, who sells items online, had in his WhatsApp advertisement that said "made by Jains on orders, no Muslim staff".
The owner came under severe criticism after the ad went viral on social media,claiming that it was aimed at hurting the sentiments of the Muslim community.
Taking a suo motu action, the Mambalam police registered a case and arrested him.
Police booked him under section 295 A (deliberate act intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion and 504 (whoever intentionally insults and thereby gives provocation to any person, intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation will cause him to break the public peace) of IPC.
