Panchkula: Special team to check sale of illegal booze

PANCHKULA: To curb illegal sale of liquor in the district after multiple cases, the Panchkula administration has formed a special team of senior officials to keep a check at all entry/exit points. Around 17 check posts with six duty magistrates will assist the team.
Deputy commissioner (DC) M K Ahuja said sale of illegal liquor is prohibited and to stop the same, a meeting with the officials of the excise and taxation department and the police department was held after multiple cases were reported in the district.
The officials focused to keep a strict vigil at the border areas of Chandigarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. District revenue officer Ramphal Kataria, assistant commissioner of police Vijay Deshwal and excise and taxation officer Ravinder Kumar will head the special team.
