PRAYAGRAJ: As parents struggle to explain the danger associated with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic to their children, police are banking on animation clips to make kids understand why the ongoing lockdown is important to arrest the spread of the virus.
The idea was the brainchild of IG (Moradabad range) Ramit Sharma, who got a one-minute animation clip made on topic. The first of these clips featured a young boy and his elder sister, and their conversation with a police official over phone. The police official is seen explaining to the kids how the virus is ‘very notorious’ and how a team of corona warriors is working to ‘arrest’ it. The clip ends with the police official advising the kids to stay indoors till the virus is reined in.
The short animation clips has gone viral on social media and WhatsApp.
“We have been successful in reaching out to kids and making them understand why it is important for them to stay indoors to beat novel coronavirus with the help of these animation clips and social media,” Sharma said.
Apart from these clips, police have been interacting with kids on social media. “They are invited to sending paintings, essays and poems on social media handles of UP Police to drive home the message,” he added.
Prayagraj police have appreciated the creativity of kids who sent several such entries and have even announced prizes for them.
