Boris Johnson announces major lockdown changes in England - sparking fears about impact on Wales

The Prime Minister has told people in England they can travel for exercise - sparking fears people will come over the border into Wales.

In an address to the nation on Sunday, Boris Johnson outlined a number of changes to the lockdown restrictions in England, which are not being made in Wales.

What North Wales looked like during unusually quiet bank holiday

North Wales is normally pretty crowded over a bank holiday - but it was a little different this weekend.

The current Welsh Government lockdown rules mean the public can only leave their homes for essential reasons - which includes shopping for basic necessities and daily exercise.

It is set to be another chilly day tomorrow in Wales.

A Met Office spokesman said:

Winds will gradually ease on Monday, but it will continue to feel cold. It will be mostly dry with sunny spells, although the odd afternoon shower is possible. Maximum temperature 13 °C.”

Late-night swimmers spotted 'in difficulty' off coast sparks rescue operation

Two people who appeared to get into difficulty while having a late-night swim off the North Wales coast sparked a large-scale rescue operation.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of two people who appeared to be in trouble off near Ynys Gifftan, Portmeirion just before 10pm on Saturday.

Police issue update on death of man, 57, at Rhyl property

Police investigating the death of a man at a property in Rhyl have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances.

It comes after a large emergency services presence was seen on Brighton Road last night (May 9), amid reports from local residents of a stabbing in the Denbighshire town.

Police slammed a group who travelled from the Wirral to North Wales to “play” on their “little bikes”.

Officers from the North Wales Police Wrexham Rural unit expressed their anger about the group who travelled in two vehicles to Wrexham to ride scrambler bikes.

Toyota to restart production at Deeside engine plant

Japanese car maker Toyota will resume production at its Deeside engine plant next week.

Production at the North Wales plant - which employs 600 workers - was suspended on March 18, due to the coronavirus.

The incident was revealed by North Wales Police this morning (May 10) and occurred in the Wrexham area last night.

Updates as Prime Minister Boris Johnson announces Covid-19 'road map'

The Prime Minister will address the nation on Sunday evening and outline his “road map” for tackling Covid-19 in the UK.

Boris Johnson will speak in a televised address at 7pm and will speak about what is being done by the UK Government to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.

He will also outline any potential changes to lockdown restrictions in England.

Restrictions in Wales are managed by the Welsh Government, and the First Minister Mark Drakeford has already announced that the lockdown here will be extended for another three weeks.
