MYSURU: In city corporation limits, wearing masks has been made compulsory. With the idea of ensuring that the poor will not find any difficulty in finding the masks, now two non-governmental organisations (NGO)s come out with the initiative.
Under the initiative, Youth For Seva and Diya organisation targeted distributing over 1 lakh cloth masks stitched by their volunteers. The poor families residing across the city will be provided with these masks.
According to Satheesh Metri, district coordinator, Youth for Seva, the idea is that all shall get free masks to help all of us to fight the Covid-19. "Our volunteers only will stitch these masks. We are planning to distribute them among the people who can't afford it," he said.
"These will be reusable masks. We are distributing it free as everyone must get protection from the Covid-19," he said.
According to Metri, 38 volunteers of the organisation supplied over 50,000 packs of food for the last 31 days. "31 volunteers prepared and packed these food packs at the Shantisagar hotel kitchen. We supplied food packs in 12 areas. Every day we supplied lunch and dinner. On average, 1,500 packs of food we supplied," he explained.
"We supplied to food in those areas where poor stay in a large number," he concluded.
If the vigil is let down, the flattening of the curve of Covid-19 in the state will go, additional AG submitted. The guidelines are statutory in nature, he submitted.

When the case was taken up at 11am, additional advocate general Ranjith Thampan had sought for postponing the case to 12pm. The state government is filing a statement in the case and it will be filed within 20 minutes, he submitted as a reason for seeking a postponement.
The court asked for the opinion of advocate Poonthottam and as he had no objection, the court allowed the plea for postponing the case to 12pm. The senior counsel also submitted that he is also filing before the court copies of two government orders issued in this regard. Allowing the counsel to proceed, the court said it will hear the case at 12pm.
