New Delhi: The
Indian Railways will run up to 1,500 'shramik special' trains in the coming week. “As per the guidelines of the home ministry, we can run shramik trains only on the basis of request from state governments, so we are trying to assess a demand from them,” a senior railway official told ET. “We are prepared to run around 1,200 to 1,500 trains in the coming week,” the official said.
Railway minister
Piyush Goyal on Sunday asked state governments to expedite the process of issuing permissions for
transportation of stranded migrant labourers to their home states. “All migrants can be back home in 3-4 days,” Goyal added.
