HYDERABAD: Two police constables with Afzalgunj police station were suspended on Sunday after a video of the duo accepting a bribe went viral on social media.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning at around 8 am. Later, Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad placed both the police constables under suspension.
The police constables were identified as PC 7723 D. Pancha Mukesh and PC 4398 B. Suresh of Afzalgunj police station. “Both was placed under suspension with immediate effect who were found indulging in act of grave misconduct,” a statement released from Hyderabad commissionerate.
While Inspector Afzalganj has been given a charge memo for poor supervision and control. “The incident happened in Jambagh area. The initial investigation revealed that the auto trolley was carrying non-essential items. The constables were planning on booking a case, to avoid that the driver allegedly bribed them,” said a senior official.
The video was reportedly shot by a local resident in which, both the constables were seen stopping the auto trolley and taking money from the driver. Following the video went viral, the Commissioner ordered an enquiry.
