OPD services at S Goa district hospital to commence today

Margao: As a system is being put in place for the commencement of Out Patient Department (OPD) services on Monday at the new South Goa District Hospital, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane conducted a surprise inspection of the facilities on Sunday to know about its status.

In a tweet on Sunday, the Minister said that he has conducted a surprise inspection of the South Goa District Hospital, “to monitor the status as we start OPD operations from tomorrow. Delighted to see a motivated team of workers, relentlessly working towards keeping the surroundings clean and hygienic for our citizens.”

Due to the space constraints at the Hospicio, the decision was taken to open the medicine ward as well as 26 OPDs at the new district hospital even though the entire complex is not ready as yet. The Minister had also inspected the hospital on Friday as he visited the Hospicio and the ESI Hospital in Margao.

Rane had said that “though the entire hospital building is not ready, the parts that are handed over by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) would be used for  OPDs.”

Thereafter, cleaning and shifting of required equipment had begun.

Patients will be allowed to visit the new district hospital to avail of the OPD services based on a token system wherein each department will have a limited number of patients.

Social distancing norm will have to be maintained, and all safety measures will be in place – wearing of face masks has already been made compulsory. Doctors are also being provided with PPE.
