AI flight crew should stay back in Delhi: Noida police

NOIDA: The ‘stay back in Delhi’ controversy is not ending with doctors.
Noida police have written to Air India, “requesting” them to ensure that pilots and crew members of emergency flights to bring Indians stranded in different countries back home stay in Delhi itself.
Police sent the letter on Thursday, addressed to the managing director of Air India, after consultation with the Noida administration and additional chief secretary (home) Awanish Awasthi, police officers told TOI.
Additional CP (crime) Sreeparna Ganguly said the home ministry had issued certain guidelines for people coming from abroad and entering red zones, including institutional quarantine, for at least 14 days.
“Keeping in mind the safety of residents of Gautam Budh Nagar, we have requested Air India to consider that their crew members, if they are staying in the district and are going abroad on any of the flights, must consider the guidelines. These crew members can unfortunately pick up coronavirus in case they come in contact with an infected person. Hence, a letter has been sent to Air India,” Ganguly said.
The Ghaziabad health department on Friday withdrew the advisory asking doctors working in Delhi to stay back in Delhi after the Indian Medical Association lodged a strong protest, calling it “discriminatory”.
