Thane: Major fire at Adharwadi dumping ground in Kalyan

KALYAN: A major fire broke out at Adharwadi dumping ground in Kalyan (West), engulfing the entire area into thick smoke on Saturday. Four fire tenders of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation have been trying to control the fire.
Kalyan fire officials said that the blaze broke out around 2.30pm and later spread due to heavy wind.

The officials said soon after getting the information, two fire tenders were sent initially and later two more vehicles were sent to the spot.
This is the 13th time in the last four years that this dumping ground has caught fire. The locals for last many years have been demanding to shift the ground, which is causing health issues to them as it is situated on the border of city where thousands of people live in the surrounding areas.
