MHRD and NCERT is planning odd-even plan for schools when they reopen after the coronavirus lockdown

The Ministry of Human resources and Development (MHRD) with National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is planning odd-even plan for schools when they reopen after the coronavirus lockdown.

According to some reports, the classrooms will be functional but would need to practice the norms of social distancing. Thus, schools are likely to operate on this model where only 50 per cent of the students will be present in the classrooms on any given day while others to study from home.

This plan could be lead to more distinctive valuation and learning experience for any student. The notifications for the same are soon to be announced by MHRD.

The council is also involved in generating an online material and live interaction that could be channelled via TV channels to avoid losses to schools who do not have a good technical setup.

Another plan of odd-even every week may be proposed. Schools can plan the odd-even dates meaning schools will plan with their students to attend school on alternate days; as a result, the attendance will be low in the classroom. Along with this odd-even, the government is also trying to construct the plan of what the students at home would do when they are at home.

NCERT Director Hrushikesh Senapaty told TOI, “The guidelines will also spell out what the students who stay back at home would do. One option is for schools to continue their online teaching and giving assignments and activities.”

In such a way, both the spaces would have enough to participate themselves in, and students will not face any loss of their studies.

Furthermore, the Ministry is also planning to announce 12 channels for classes 1 to 12.

The final guidelines and notifications are underway and would be accepted by MHRD. The draft of the same will be likely brought to MHRD on Monday.
