As the number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai continue to rise, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Pravin Pardeshi was transferred to the Urban Development department as Additional Chief Secretary on Friday. 

Iqbal Singh Chahal will replace Pardeshi as the new chief of Mumbai's  civic body in a major shake-up. 

Mumbai, country's entertainment and financial hub, has emerged as a major COVID-19 hotspot with over 11,000 cases in the city. 

With 692 persons testing positive on Thursday, the number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai  now stand at 11,219.  The death toll for the city has reached 437 as 25 patients died on
Thursday.
